I am a 32-year-old mother of 2 children, ages 8 & 13. Aside from my own children, my husband and I have gone through multiple trainings to be foster children with special needs. Caring for people, young and old has been a major facet of my life. Growing up, I spent many hours caring for 5 younger siblings and young cousins. At 2 different times in my life, we had both my grandmother and an uncle stay in our home who needed physical personal care for many months. Both of my children were involved with Head Start, and during those years I was a parent volunteer, as well as President of their Parent Committee, which helped make decisions about how to spend class funding, arranging fund raisers, and organizing field trips. I've attended many of the Parent Trainings offered by Head Start, including earning my first aid certification. I also spent almost 2 years working as a Nutrition Educator and gained ample field experience interactively teaching health and nutrition skills to many families with young children. I have experience caring for my own daughter with special needs as well as a few children of friends.
