About Heidi

I've been working with children, professionally, for 10 years but have experience going back to my middle school days, when I began as a mother's helper, caring for twins. I always knew that caring for children would be my life's work, even from that young age. When I completed high school, I went on to earn my Associate's degree in early childhood education. I worked full time at a daycare while going to school in the evening. I stayed at the daycare for six years, where I became the lead teacher of a preschool class. After a time, I decided that I would prefer to be with children in a more long-term and personal situation. I have been with my current family for over five years, and though I love the children very much, since my move to the city the commute has become too stressful. I love children of all ages! Some of my favorite activities are crafts, being outdoors, making up games, and involving the kids in household responsibilities like grocery shopping, meal planning, and scheduling. My goal is to help children become self sufficient while building social skills and healthy emotional habits. I am currently responsible for grocery shopping, children's laundry, clothing and incidentals for the children, homework help, showers/baths, and small household needs (i. e. meet the plumber, cleaning service, etc).
