About Heather

Over the past 20+ years, I have taught English at all levels: elementary, middle school, high school, and college. Subjects include Composition 1 and 2, all Literature, English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Creative Writing, Developmental Writing, Study Strategies, and Reading. I love meeting students where they're at in a given subject and observing their learning strategies so that I can best utilize our time together, equipping them with the best explanations, examples, and resources to ensure their growth and success. I'd describe my personality as creative, logical, and communicative. I like tutoring because I enjoy watching students gain understanding of a subject and confidence in their skills. I'm committed to showing them how the topics are relevant in their own life. One thing you should know about me is I follow a growth mindset and approach students' struggles holistically, with patience and positive energy.
