My name is Heather, I've worked with children for 10 years. My first role with children was in 2003, as a Volunteer at a camp for kids with disabilities called KAMP Dovetail, Where I volunteered for two summers. My job as a camp counselor was to lead children in daily activities prescribed by the nature or theme of the camp. I was the person the camper, typically relied upon for guidance, and ensured their safety and well-being. As camp counselor, I was relied upon to keep the campers on time and prepared for participation. Then, I became the Assistant Preschool teacher at a childcare center in Columbus, Ohio in 2007. My role as a preschool teacher assistant involved helping students learn skills along with the lead teacher, who does the actual instruction. I was responsible for the safety and security of the students in the classroom, on the playground and on field trips. I also filed papers and helped maintain student records and portfolios, and maintained a professional relationship with the parents to help building a solid foundation for learning to help prepare the children for kindergarten. Then in 2009, I was employed as a Behavior technician working with children.
