Hamdi was with my family, caring for my son from October 2023 until the end of April 2024. Because of the phenomenal job Hamdi did with my son, had we not moved to a different state, I would have retained Hamdi another 3 years to work with my daughter. Hamdi cared for and educated my son, as though he was her own child. When my husband and I decided to hire a nanny we wanted someone who would care for our child like their own and bond with him, and she did exactly that. My son asks for her daily and speaks of her when she’s not there. Having worked in a Montessori school prior to transitioning into working with individual families, Hamdi brought that educational background with her. She taught my son his alphabet, and counting to 10 within two weeks of starting. Then came colors, shapes, continents etc. and now among the many other things she is teaching him, he’s tracing the alphabet. She has also developed his playroom into an interactive classroom. Nothing overwhelming as he is only just about to be 3 but absolutely age appropriate. Hamdi allows no screen time during the day and instead relies on her own planning and creativity in choosing “class time” activities for my son before they go out for story time at the local library, the playground and/or different classes he is registered for (which I choose in coordination with her perspective, suggestions and input based on her observations of my son). Hamdi is also a safe driver with her own transportation. I should also note, as a mom who sometimes has to work long hours, and was coming from a couple of particularly horrible childcare experiences, the relief that accompanied Hamdi’s entry into our lives was immense. Her starting with us was the first time I felt like I did not have to “babysit the babysitter.” She allowed me to feel like a professional, striving for success again, while knowing that though I wasn’t always immediately present, the best choices personally, socially, emotionally and educationally (with my direction and input) are being made for my son. With all her skills and her inherent patience and kindness exhibited not only to my son but also my entire family, to say that Hamdi will be a blessing to whatever family she works with is a complete understatement.
