During my High School years, I have had the privilege of being in a program called LINKS, where I was placed 1:1 and in three different classrooms with students who have disabilities. I have been around students who have either educational disabilities, or with students who have down syndrome, autism, severe mental disabilities, and with students who experience seizures on a daily basis. I have also had the opportunity working in a local elementary school as a paraprofessional/ behavior interventionist, paired one-on-one with a student, as well as placed in a special education classroom where I teacher assisted. I am currently enrolled at GVSU where I will be continuing my education in the Special Education Field. Not only have these students taught me ways of happiness, but also what it means to live my life to the fullest. I am so passionate about the students I have encountered upon, and am so excited to meet the many more in the future.
