I've been caring for children with special needs, specifically autism, since I was 14 years old. My younger sister was diagnosed with high functioning autism when I was 14 and she was 5. Since then I've become an advocate for people with autism, and I even decided to make caring for children with special needs a career. I'm currently working on a degree in special education and plan to continue on a get a Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. I was previously a nanny full time for a family with four adopted, special needs children. They have a 12-year-old daughter with autism and Tourette's. They also have a 16-year-old with brain damage from being abused while still in China whom they adopted 4 years ago. Their 11-year-old has a blood disorder called Beta Thalassemia which requires monthly blood transfusions. Their 9-year-old has mild sensory processing disorder. I have such a passion for helping people with special needs and hope to continue to broaden my horizons.

Amazing Grace should be her name! We hired Grace last fall to help us manage the chaos of virtual school. We have three girls aged 12, 10, and 8. Our oldest has high functioning aspergers and can have some challenges. Grace has been able to connect with all three of them, and figure out what they needed to be successful. All three girls excelled in school this year and that was because of Grace. She's very open to feedback and makes changes immediately. She's also always looking for how she can improve herself and the experience the girls have with her. She's been an integral part of family, and we don't know what we would do without her.
