I employed Gewndalayne (Ivy) from February through July 2023 for my friend Peter who lives alone. In December Peter fell and shattered his ankle. After 2 surgeries he returned home and needed a care giver since he could not put any weight on his leg for 2 months. At the same time the general anesthesia from the surgeries triggered his dementia. Peter was eventually diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. His memory has very bad and he couldn’t remember when to take his medication or how much insulin he needed for his diabetes. Ivy did an amazing job caring for Peter’s physical and emotional needs. She was very caring and and at the same time knowledgeable due to her experience and nursing background. She was successful getting Peter’s blood sugar in check where he no longer needed 3 sliding scale dosages before meals. Ivy also managed many other aspects; she did all his shopping online, made his meals, and organized and administered his medications. She also was a friend too Peter and settled him when his anxiety was bad. Because of Peter’s Alzheimers he was becoming more difficult and irrational. Ivy was extremely patient and compassionate with his moods. Ivy also went above and beyond doing favors for me since I live in Colorado She would take Peter to his doctor appointments, arrange to get his hair cut and other personal errands that were needed. She even once took his dog to the vet when it was sick. Ivy always provided me timely updates on Peter and even managed the caregivers that filled in on her day off. She was flexible working extra hours when needed, and took calls from me on her own time. Since Peter’s Alzheimer’s was getting worse, I worked with his family to move him back to his home country of Australia. If you are looking for a dependable, thorough and professional caregiver, look no further. I highly recommend Ivy for any caregiving position she is comfortable with. I only wish I had found her for my mother years ago.
