About Faith

I spent 6 to 10 hours every week with the seniors at a senior living facility in Roseville for a whole year. I spent quality time with the residents there and created strong relationships with a few that I saw regularly. I was not paid for my time, which made the experience more genuine. My goal in volunteering my time was to add more quality and joy to the lives of people who felt that maybe no one cared any more. I went to show them that someone did care and that was me. I accompanied them to various events, played board games with them, or simply had a chat at their bedside. I also became a Transit Ambassador. In Roseville there was a large percentage of elderly people who took the local bus and my job was to ensure that they had a smooth and safe trip. I daily rode on different routes to answer questions, explain bus routes, bus stop schedule and more. I was very rewarded by the responses of the people I helped. I would hear, "I couldn't have done this without you," and knew I was accomplishing a good thing. Last year I gave intensive care to 2 individuals. My father-in-law had terminal colon cancer. We cared for him around the clock for 2 months prior to his passing. Also, a close friend required our help for 6 months before is passing as well.
