I absolutely adoring hanging out and caring for people with special needs. This past summer I worked at Beloved and Beyond, a Christian camp for people with special needs where I oversaw a cabin with 5 campers with disabilities and 5 buddies who stuck with them throughout the week. I was able to form super sweet relationships with each camper as well as tend to any needs they had, whether it was help eating and preparing food, feeding through G-tubes, shower and bathroom assistance, help with dressing and getting ready, encouraging healthy habits and behaviors or just hanging out! I feel like people with special needs are each so unique and so valuable and have so much to offer the world. Many times they are overlooked or looked down upon by society so I think it's so so important to advocate for them and encourage them to know and share their value with others.
