About Erin

I have been a classroom teacher for 20 years, mostly at the middle school level. I have masters degrees in Curriculum and Instruction and Reading. I have been teaching reading intervention for the past 10 years because I love using diagnostic data to get to the root of a student's issue, then using research-based methods to improve their reading and close the gap between them and their peers. When I do individual tutoring, I administer assessments to determine a student's strengths and weaknesses. I implement a program based on those results; we can work on phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, etc. I think motivation is also very important to reading success, especially for adolescents! As a classroom teacher, I have access to a wide variety of instructional materials and assessments. I will progress monitor regularly to determine if the intervention is working or if a different approach is needed. I'd describe my personality as kind, cheerful, and encouraging.
