About Erika

Having graduated Phi Beta Kappa and earned my Juris Doctor (law degree) while raising two neurodiverse children, as well as having completed my first year as a substitute teacher, I am uniquely qualified to tutor your scholar. Between time spent teaching in classrooms of 15 to 35 students (from TK to 9th grade), and that spent guiding my own children, I have developed an instructional style which encourages exploration and open communication. I find that the integration of physical activity (in the form of frequent "brain breaks") is especially beneficial when instructing younger children and kids who process information differently. The environment most conducive to learning is one in which the child feels supported and secure enough to make mistakes. As a tutor, my job is to guide your child academically; as a good human, my duty is to do that with abundant patience, and with the long-term goal of empowering your child.
