Working with kids is a passion of mine and I have spent most of my adult career caring for or educating children in various capacities. As you can see from my profile, I am experienced in those fields, working with children as young as newborns and as old as teenagers. I even won an award from Rachael Ray's Yum-O Foundation for my work as a garden educator. Each age is a challenge and a joy in different ways, but I certainly have a soft spot for working with young children. I genuinely enjoy helping them learn about the world through music, art, language, gardening, and play and have become skilled in helping young ones navigate and express their complex emotions in healthy ways. Ideally, I would like to work with a family who is taking COVID precautions and willing to have open and honest discussions about risk and any changes that occur during employment. I met Erika in 2010 when she provided weekly care for my then twin 3 year old girls and my 7 year old son. My husband was on a year-long deployment at the time and I really needed extra help! Erika was the perfect match for us as her maturity and kindness won the hearts of the kids and also assisted me greatly in a difficult time. Erika took the kids to their extracurricular activities and spent quality time with them, which I know they enjoyed. I had a few applications to the position but felt right away she was the best choice for us from her demeanor, sense of calmness and overall responsibility to respond in a variety of situations. As stated above, Erika has a number of strengths to offer an employer, particularly in entrusting her with your own little ones. She is bright and pursuing her degree at LaSalle, and has a wealth of childcare experience while growing up and as a young adult. I enjoyed her maturity and being not only a person to lend a helping hand but also another adult to converse with. I would highly recommend Erika in this capacity.
