I became passionate about caring for individuals with special needs a little over a year ago. I did an internship at an organization called High Point Village, an organization that has a day program for adults with disabilities. During this internship, I filled in as a substitute teacher, I helped chaperone outings, and I helped plan summer activities. After my internship ended, I started volunteering once a week as an afternoon enrichment teacher where I teach a class of 10 people with disabilities. While completing my practicum, I began to feel called to work with people with special needs on a full-time basis. I also have several years on part-time nannying experience under my belt where I have gained experience finding activities to do, learned ways to help around the house, and have learned to interact with people and kids of all personality types!
