As a peer of Emma's at our small college, it was obvious that she was a standout student and a kind individual. It wasn't until we were co-captains on our Division III field hockey team that I realized her intelligence and warmth is matched by her ability to lead, problem-solve, and empathize with others, no matter their background or viewpoints. We were apart of a small group of student athletes from our school that were given the opportunity to travel to Guatemala for a week to work with elementary-age students for whom English is their second language. Watching Emma teach and connect with the students was quite inspiring. Emma embodies the mission of the college, which is to improve the lives of children and families. I have no doubt that welcoming her into your family will be a great decision.
