About Emily

Hello! My name is Emily and I have taught 2nd grade for the past 6 years. I recently transitioned roles to become my school's K-5 math interventionist. I have a Masters degree in elementary education with a math endorsement from James Madison University and in May 2025, I will finish a reading specialist graduate program through Longwood University. I love teaching reading and math and incorporating games whenever possible! I love tutoring because I love seeing children make connections and growth. Tutoring allows me to create custom learning goals for the students I work with. I also love using assessment data to identify and target learning gaps. My skills include using assessment data to identify gaps in learning, incorporating games and hands-on activities, and building relationships with the students I work with. I especially love tutoring reading and math skills covered in grades K-3.
