About Emily

I am looking to combine my love of children, social justice, and teaching. I have worked as a nanny (infant/toddler age, 2 summers), teaching assistant (3rd graders, 6 months), preschool teacher (4-5-year-olds, 18 months), and elementary school social worker (5-12-year-olds, 2 years). I like to help young people identify their emotions and the needs underneath them, and then coach them on how to get these needs met in socially desirable ways. I also like to expose kids to different cultures and give them frameworks to help them understand social inequalities. With my nanny kids, we focused on a different culture each week using library books, music, art projects, and recipes. With my preschoolers, we used books and toys to learn about social inequalities and discussed their thoughts about what they were noticing.
