I have about 4 years of experience providing care to individuals with special needs. Some populations/ diagnoses I've worked with: -Geriatrics/Adult: Settings: Nursing Home, Inpatient Psychiatry Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's, and Dementia (primarily comfort focused: decreasing confusion/agitation, improving quality of life). Total/partial dependence in completing daily cares (hygiene, nutrition, etc.). Mental Health: Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Autism Spectrum, Personality Disorders, Schizophrenia, PTSD/trauma. -Pediatrics: Setting: In home, Inpatient Psychiatry Mental Health: ADHD, Autism Spectrum, Anxiety, Depression, Self Harming Behaviors, PTSD/trauma I'm passionate about this work because it gives me the opportunity to give patience, respect, and kindness to people who often don't receive enough. The phrase "it takes a village" often comes to my mind. Even a little extra help can make a huge difference for a family who has a member with special needs.
