Hi there! I've retired from a human services career and now have the opportunity to do something else that gives me a lot of joy! In the past few years I've taken care of just 6 clients, most with some form of dementia. I do this work p/t and with few clients in order to avoid burnout or assembly line care. I'm invested in each person/family, creating personalized and heartfelt care. I strive to do this with respect, without infringing on autonomy or stepping on pride. I value the wisdom and stories elders have to share and find that eager listening can built trust when someone may be hesitant to accept help after a life of independence. It's important to me to be able to offer continuity of care. I am available to provide companionship, support, and advocacy if/when my clients have a hospital stay or move to a care facility. I'm comfortable with pets, vaccinated, a non-smoker, and LGBTQ friendly! Local transportation is included in my fee.

My mom has dementia and has been living with us for 15 months. During this time, Ellen has been one of her regular caretakers. Ellen is good-humored, personable, kind, helpful, caring, flexible, insightful, and patient. She made a truly personal connection with us and with my mom. She has a lot of expertise in how to work with dementia. She takes my mom shopping, plays cards with her, goes out to eat with her, took her to the movies a couple of times, and helped her with Christmas shopping. Ellen always keeps us informed about what she notices in working with my mom so we have a more complete picture of what she is experiencing. If my mom weren't going into assisted living, we would definitely keep her on. I recommend Ellen without reservation. She's a delight to work with and my mom really enjoys her company.
