I hired Ella to be a part time nanny and to pick my kids up from daycare. The first week seemed to go fine. It was 12 hours. The second week she called in sick Monday due to vaccine side effects. Then worked Tuesday. Then called out sick Wednesday. Then worked Thursday and the weekend. Monday morning, less than two weeks after being hired, she sends me a text that she is quitting due to medical reasons. This may be true, but she has been active on Care.com since quitting my family without notice. She also said she couldn't drive due to medical reasons. I insisted she figure out a way to have my car seats returned to me. She drove them to my house and had someone in the passenger seat. So she either is not honest with me or is not following medical advice. If you are looking to hire her at this time, and she is honest with me about her medical issues, then she shouldn't be caring for children. If she was dishonest with me and looking for different work, I thought it was fair for other families to know that she has some growing up to do and work on her professionalism. I see there is another family that she canceled on with minimal notice as well. If that review had been posted before I hired her, I wouldn't have interviewed her. This single mom is way to busy to not have a reliable person in her corner. I've employed many part time nannies and have never experienced someone quitting without notice via text and then being active on a job searching site the same day... something does not add up here.
