In the past year, I worked at a school district in New York, working as a CCA (Childcare Associate). As a CCA, I acted as a teacher in a classroom with 5 children, all who had Autism. I worked specifically one-on-one with a child who required me to have high energy, lots of patience and understanding, empathy, and most important, love. I developed a special connection with this child. And we relied on each other to get through the day. For 7 hours a day, 5 days a week, I acted as his teacher and friend, while working towards goals to be his most successful self. He does and always will have a close place in my heart. Unfortunately, we had to move to Iowa, and I had to leave my job. It makes my heart so happy working alongside children with differing abilities. I have endless patience, empathetic understanding, one amazing year of school-setting experience, and a tremendous amount of love to give.
