Working for three years as a paraprofessional and now as a specialist for kids with disabilities has developed my love for and ability to create engaging environments for students with disabilities and emotional difficulties. This work gave me exposure to collaborating on IEP goals with SLP's, BCBA's, Physical and Occupational Therapists and teachers and the implementation of those goals. My ability to connect with individual kids and create a classroom culture of inclusion, self-regulation, and support for all students has proved invaluable in helping students overcome social-emotional struggles and problem behaviors. My dedication allows my students to explore their potential in academics, participate in their social environment, and understand their emotional world. Being a tutor for students with learning disabilities in addition to my paraprofessional experience, gave me exemplary skills in coaching and mentoring students in executive functioning.
