About Eleanor

I'm a D. C.-based journalist who has been babysitting most of my life. The oldest of three, I've spent a lifetime helping take care of two younger brothers. Most of my professional experience, however, has come from babysitting for the same family -- my next-door neighbors, whom I have nannied for on a weekly basis since their second of three was born nine years ago. I've also babysat for various other families (with infants, toddlers and older children) on several other occasions. Some of my favorite activities to do with kids include cooking, playing board games, going to the park, and pretty much doing whatever floats their (or your) boat! For the safety-minded, I also spent five years as a certified lifeguard for a local municipality (including a stint managing a staff of three lifeguards at a public beach), so I know just about all there is to know about first aid. During the same time, I also taught swim lessons, instructing infants, toddlers, older children and even adults.
