I was the main caregiver for my mother for 8 years. She had multiple health issues but had 8 brain aneurysms and we were only able to have 5 of them repaired before they were unable to continue treatments. She also had several of the "mature" population problems and we dealt with them as they came. I made sure she had three meals a day, was clean and at times, when she broke both hips, I would put her into rehab and then have to continue at home because she would not want to stay. We would read to her from the bible and sing together. Take walks and if she couldn't walk we would get the chair out and push her around the farm. She did not like leaving the farm much as people would make her very nervous. I was also responsible to caring for my MIL and this was rotated within the family. She had renal failure and dementia, so it was different than caring for my mother. I also took my turn at caring for my grandmother who was terminally ill with breast cancer.
