As I was raising my two children their friends were always welcome at our house. They all called me Mama Burns as I was a second mother to them. I treated and protected them as my own. Now that they are all young adults when I see them they are happy to chat and update me on what's new. I was a Girl Scout leader for many years. We were always doing activities and would take trips. I took over as the PTO President at my kids school. They were talking about doing away with it because they could not find somebody to run it. I didn't want to see that happen. The PTO does a great deal for the kids. I've always stepped in when it was something that would benefit the kids.
