I've been babysitting , I started working for the nursery at my church as a teenager and just loved working with kids. Having grown up doing theatre and playing music, I believe it is extremely important to engage children creatively. Sometimes that means just playing songs on the guitar and singing with them, other days that involves a craft of some kind, even something silly like making magic wands out of pipe cleaners. I most recently worked for a family on the Upper East with two boys 9 and 12. It is important to the parents and to me that their time using electronics is limited. As soon as they got home from school, I made sure they had a snack and then it was time for homework. Working with them to make sure they understood a new lesson they were learning or brushing them up on material for an exam was a huge part of our time together. From there, preparing them a good meal an activity and getting them ready for bed typically took up the rest of out evening
