Hello! I am an experienced and passionate child care provider in Oakland, CA. I am particularly interested in play-based learning, respectful care-giving (RIE), anti-bias curriculum and connecting children with nature. I earned my B. A. in Child Development from Mills College in 2015. Childcare experience: I am the oldest of three siblings and my mother had a home day care when I was growing up. I often spent time after school playing and caring for young children. Throughout middle, high school and college I babysat and nannied for many families. I have provided full-time care as well as part-time or occasional care. 2013-2015: Teacher at Mills College Children's School in Oakland, CA. I spent a year teaching in the infant/toddler classroom and a year working with children ages 2-5. 2015-2017: full-time teacher in a 2-year-old classroom at Child Education Center in Berkeley. I am the director and head teacher of Kodama Forest School an outdoor program for children ages 2-8.

Devon watched my 6-month old baby boy for two days for me while I was in Seattle on business travel. She showed up ahead of schedule and was immediately comfortable with my baby, and when I returned from my business meeting on both days he was relaxed, happy, had eaten and napped normally, and had clearly enjoyed being with Devon. Devon went the extra mile and took him to the nearby library to read to him, and took him out for strolls (which he loves!) I will definitely contact Devon first next time I'm in Seattle and highly recommend her as a skilled, sensitive, and trustworthy sitter.
