Before I had my own children, I taught at a private school here in the LKN area. It is not at all uncommon for private schools to have a large number of children who might find it difficult to be embraced in a public school school setting. Some of my most memorable students are the ones who struggled the most. One young boy would only settle down for me. Even when I left the primary area to teach art full-time, they would have to come up and get me now and then to calm him. I "got" him and knew what he needed. That is generally the case. I do miss teaching, but I am a single mom now and there is just too much after-school, evening and continuing ED for me to do it now.
