We are providing a summary of our experiences and interactions with Debbie T. as a reference for a prospective employer. We have known Debbie since summer, 2011, when she began working for us on a contingent basis as a nanny, housekeeper and caregiver. A household member was diagnosed with ALS in 2008, and up to September, 2011, we had been using one full-time individual to provide all three functions. Debbie filled in for our regular person on an as-needed basis. She quickly formed a bond with us and our children and when our ill family member was hospitalized and subsequently released to hospice in September, 2011, we asked Debbie to spend some overnights with her there, serving as her advocate/caregiver, supplementing hospice staff and providing more focused care for her than they were able. Upon our family member's release , Debbie began working full-time as a dedicated caregiver in our home. Even though we hired additional caregivers for other shifts, we utilized Debbie for many of our most critical needs. She organized much of our family member's activities, making lists detailing care needs that we use to this day. When we had to travel to hospitals in Cleveland overnight in late 2011, we asked Debbie to accompany us, as we were most comfortable that she would be able to handle our family member's many needs. In addition to being a caregiver, Debbie willingly took on other duties as well, organizing and writing emails for her, placing ads for other caregivers, organizing and updating our household phone list and other files and many other miscellaneous activities. She also interacted very well with our two teenage boys. Even after Debbie decided to change jobs to care for infant twins, we have continued to use her on occasion as a substitute, and it is a welcome experience having her back to help, even on a rare instance. As described above, Debbie would be an excellent addition to a household or business in a variety of capacities/situations. She demonstrated strong organizational abilities, flexibility, compassion, was trustworthy, had high levels of productivity and many other skills/attributes in her time with us. We consider her a friend as well as one of the very best of the many caregivers we have employed over the years.
