I have worked with young children over 35 years: 20 years in the classroom as a preschool head teacher, and the last 15, I have worked with private families as a nanny. I have loved both experiences! Working as a nanny has been especially rewarding. I love helping children explore their world around them through experiences and hands on activities. Working with paint, markers, crayons play dough, water play etc. materials that help build small motor skills, develop cause and effect and problem solving. I am a huge advocate of reading and play through dance. I like to encourage independence and a big believer in age appropriate activities. I am a huge animal lover. I have been married to my wonderful husband for 31 years and we have 2 amazing adult daughters. I would love to speak further about my experiences and my love for working with young children and babies. I have plenty of references.

I’m writing on behalf of Deborah, who has been part of our family since January 2021. Deborah joined us to care for our then-seven-month-old son once I returned to work. I was fortunate enough to not NEED to return to work at all, so I was adamant about finding the right fit for our family. I felt like I was looking for a unicorn — how can you possibly find someone you trust with your most prized possession, who you feel comfortable letting into your home and into the most personal aspects of your life? I was willing to pay my whole salary if I found that person! Now, nearly four years later, I know there’s not enough money in the entire world to repay Deborah for her contribution to our family. Within a week of returning to work, I found out I was pregnant with a surprise number two. I was “one and done”, so the thought alone was absolutely terrifying. Deborah was the first to know, although we barely knew each other. To say she was supportive would be an understatement. She not only cared for our son, but she also emotionally cared for me as I prepared to welcome our second baby. I felt completely at ease knowing he was in the safest, most loving hands while I was at work, receiving regular updates and photos. Not only that, but it was immediately apparent that she was going to teach him so much more than I feel I ever could. Her experience teaching preschool is priceless. She has taught me so much regarding how to effectively communicate with my kids in a way that they respond so beautifully to. As a first time mom, I obviously had no idea what I was doing, and I’m forever grateful for the example set forth by Deborah. Once hour youngest arrived, Deborah was one of the first people to meet him. She was such a tremendous support to me postpartum, I have trouble even articulating to what extent in words. She allowed me to divide my time between both boys and make sure my oldest did not struggle so much with the transition, something I was extremely worried about. There have been few greater emotions in my life than those I felt postpartum with two young children who both needed so much from their mom. Deborah supported me in ways I didn’t even know I needed, and always made sure I was prioritizing rest and self-care amongst everything else I was juggling. She enforced boundaries when I didn’t have the strength to and graciously shooed out visitors as family nap time approached. Deborah was kind enough to not only care for our children, but to look after our household, as well. She’d unload the dishwasher, do our laundry, tidy up, let the dogs out, cook for the boys.. you name it. A few months after my youngest turned one, I launched my own business, something I would have absolutely never been able to do without Deborah; it would have been impossible to build a website, develop my brand, make numerous calls, and begin networking without her support, both physical and emotional. She was my greatest “hype man”. The past six months have been particularly challenging for our family, and I’ve joked with Deborah that if she were to write out all she’s done for us on a résumé, no one would believe her. It would look ridiculous. To say she goes above and beyond and that she is fiercely loyal doesn’t even do her justice. She’s exceptional in every way and has been a true gift to us. The only worry I’ve had since she joined our family is, “Who will walk Deborah down the aisle at the boys’ weddings?!” Again, it’s difficult to express the tremendous impact Deborah has had on our lives and our hearts. Anyone who has the pleasure of her joining their family is so, so lucky.
