I am the owner of 2 dogs, Zoe, a hound dog mix, and Lacee a Yorkshire terrier mix. Zoe has a serious heart condition. We often adopt special needs dogs and lost our Yorkie Beau due to renal failure. We were told he had 2 months to live due to a birth defect with his kidneys. We were able to care for him and keep him happy for 10 months. All were adopted from a humane society. The previous Dec. we had lost our terrier, Buster, to cancer. He had been rescued from a kill shelter and we had him almost 9 years. We then adopted Beau in February. I am well versed in any special care your pet might need do to the things my own dogs went through. I have cared for pets all my life, and as a hired caregiver for the last 14+ years. When I first married, we lived on a farm and had a German Shepherd, 13 cats/kittens, a mixed breed pup, and cows and pigs. Only the pup was inside, unless it was storming and the shepherd wanted in too. I generally care for cats by feeding/giving fresh water, cleaning the litter box and giving TLC. Some like to be combed while I pet them so I also will do that. For dogs I generally do the same thing (minus the litter box) including letting them out in the yard to potty and for some playtime. If you usually walk your pet, that can be done as well. I try very hard to keep them on their usual feeding/potty/sleep schedules to lessen their anxiety regarding you being away. If you usually sit on the couch with your pet on your feet while you read a book, I can do that. If your puppy needs some extra times out while potty training, I can do that too. My goal is to make your pet feel like he does when you are there, cared for, loved, and relaxed. We have also had bunnies. I can feed your fish and other small pets, such as gerbils/hamsters. I have not had much experience with reptiles, and birds need to be in cages only please. I have been providing pet care, on a regular basis for 2 families. One has 2 cats and the couple travel often. The other has 2 cats and a dog. Both families would be happy to talk to you about the kind of care provided for them. I also dog sit my "grand dogs" as needed for their families. Besides being a pet lover, I enjoy reading, rubber stamping, and hanging out with my family. My "regular" job is providing childcare for 2 families. One I have been with for 14+ years and the other for 4 years. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to meeting you and your pets.
