While teaching Kindergarten and preschool, I had several students in my classroom who were on the spectrum. While their needs were minor, and all were able to be fully inclusive in my classroom, I learned a tremendous amount from those students. As any parent will tell you, patience and kindness are the greatest virtues gained from everyday experience with these truly special children. My degree is in Early Childhood Education, and I have found a great deal of this knowledge to be helpful in dealing with children at any age range, especially children with Autism.
