About Dawn

I am parent of 3 adult children with 1 grandchild on the way. I have been a highly qualified teacher for 16 years teaching K-8th grade. I teach project-based, hands-on, experiential curriculums that engage children learning with positive outcomes. Children LOVE spending time with me and I LOVE spending time with them. I consider myself more of a guide rather than a traditional teacher. I guide my student through authentic meaningful learning allowing age appropriate struggle to be the teacher. I am trained in "Love & Logic". I believe in positive reinforcement and logical consequences. I never raise my voice because I know it is counter productive and shows a lack of self restraint. My philosophy is "the relationship comes first" then every else follows. Building a relationship of consistency and mutual respect is my goal. I love spending time with children of all ages and quickly build a connection with them!
