My father opened the very first state run community group homes in North Carolina in the 70's, so I have spent nearly my entire life spending time and working with adults and children with special needs. I have more than 35 years of hands on experience working with children and adults with developmental delays/ disabilities. I have hands on experience. I have been a case manager and a trainer for many years. I have provided supportive employment, behavioral supports and training. I spent the last five years working for the state as an Investigator in the HCS and TxHML programs, making sure people with developmental disabilities have safe places to live. I am somewhat limited in how much I can lift, but I am able to do occasional lifting. I have a good amount of patience and have always enjoyed working one on one with people with special needs.
