Individuals with special needs are so much more than just their "needs". I have taken the majority of classes offered at ECU for teaching special needs and am capable of working with said children in many capacities (including tutoring) while still acknowledging that they are children with interests of their own. In addition to working with children and teens as a part of classes at ECU, I have worked with families who have multiple children and/or diagnoses and have seen the struggles that both families and individuals can go through when a disability is involved. I have also assisted individuals with limited sight and individuals with severe Tourette's Syndrome. Further, I have recently completed the coursework for a Masters in Early Childhood Education at Grand Canyon University in order to gain better knowledge on how to best help and work with children between the ages of 2-8 (technically the material covered included infants, but they are not my expertise).
