About Coya

Hi, I'm Coya! I'm from Moab, UT and just moved to Colorado Springs from my college town, Durango, CO. I love kiddos, they remind me of the joy in simplicity. I have six nieces and two nephews, and have had the pleasure of helping raise four of them. During my gap year in 2016, I was a live in nanny for two of my sisters. At the time, their kids' ages ranged from newborn to 4 years old. That year taught me more patience and love than I though I was capable of. Additional to my experience with family, I volunteered with La Escuelita, a mentoring program for children of immigrant households, where we put on after school and summer programs to keep these children active in their schoolwork and activities during the COVID-19 pandemic. I also was a field guide for Open Sky Wilderness Therapy, where I mentored youth who were struggling from trauma, mental illness, defiance disorders or substance abuse. I am starting a fellowship on 7/18, and am looking for work from 4/18-5/15.
