We were so excited to hire Courtnie as our son's PCA! She had bubbly energy and interacted with him in a positive way during our meet-and-greets. After 6 hours of shadowing, she accepted the position. We agreed to two full weeks of training, as my son has a feeding tube, medications, and lots of equipment. We invested a ton of time, over $1000 in pay, and two days before she was supposed to start full-time she backed out. Instead of calling to have a conversation, she sent a text and quit. It was so disappointing, and left us in a really difficult position. One on hand I was happy she had a change of heart before she was on her own, but wish she would have figured it out sooner. We were very transparent about his needs, and very patient during training. All in all, I think her heart was in the right place, but ultimately his needs were too great for her skill set. If your child has a feeding tube, suction machine, or other medical complexities I would not recommend.
