I have been involved with the special needs community since I was in elementary school, when I spent time with the special education classroom creating art projects and making the children smile. Many years later, I returned to this same classroom to lead a week-long, hands-on science class, and continued to nurture my passion for special needs through multiple volunteer efforts, ultimately finding fulfillment in a career as a caregiver. I have worked as a caregiver for a disabled young adult with cerebral palsy, hydrocephalus, and epilepsy for 11 years. I have extensive experience with autism, adhd, and transgender/lgbtq youth. I love to work with children, be it special needs or typically developing, and have nannied for up to 5 siblings at a time. I have found that every human has something new to teach me, and a new perspective of the world to offer. I strive to give individuals choices, independence, and empowerment in themselves and their lives!
