I took care of an 8-year-old boy that had Tuberis Sclerosis (TS Complex) for 4 years. This condition causes lesions on his brain. The lesions would cause a misfire in the brain, & cause him to have seizures. When he would have a seizure, he would need to be transferred to the hospital so they could get it under control. He is on a daily regimen of medications to help prevent the seizures, but from time to time it would happen. When he would have one it was very important to keep calm & just work through it. That helps them from worrying also. Plus you are able to give better care if you keep yourself calm. Everyone would tell him he was different. I would tell him he isn't different from anyone else, he just had a health condition, same as people that have allergies. They can succeed just as well as all the other children. It was a very rewarding job, he was a very loving joy and I miss him. I love taking care of children of all ages. With/without special needs.
