About Colleen

I am a high school English teacher and have taught writing and literature at several universities. One-on-one and small group learning are my favorite types of teaching. I'd describe my personality as easy-going, fun, and authentic. I like tutoring because I like forming connections with people and helping them learn and grow. I'm looking for jobs that are close to my home with students who struggle with Language Arts but are willing to accept my help. I value mutual respect and operate from a place of kindness and would like students who feel the same. In my spare time, I like to hike, camp, garden, attend Arts and Music events and spend time with family and friends. One thing you should know about me is I'm really fun and approachable. Putting students at ease is something I do well. Also, scaffolding until students are comfortable flying on their own. Recognizing when a student is overwhelmed and using strategies to calm them down and refocus is also important to me.
