I have a sister with Down Syndrome and have been involved in the special needs community my whole life. I was the president of the Best Buddies chapter at Simsbury high school where I interacted and facilitated activities for people with all different types of developmental and intellectual disabilities. In addition, I have been a para educator at the preschool level for a girl with Autism where I instructed her on appropriate behavior and facilitated her coursework. While at Marquette University, I was a clinician assistant in the Marquette Speech and Hearing Clinic for a 14-week program where I helped plan and run sessions for the young client with Autism.
