I have 29 years and 5 years of experience taking care of the elderly. Since I was little I knew and learned what it is to live, treat, care, love, protect and take care of the elderly. I was lucky that my family instilled those values in me, especially my parents who have always gone out of their way for my grandparents.

Her translator was fantastic - very professional and thorough. And when she came to work (elderly care for my disabled/sick father), she was super kind and awesome. The main issue here was she committed to a schedule and then one night didn't show up without any warning. She initially visited a couple times and helped give care, and she showed a lot of potential and dedication to her work. We had agreed upon a schedule for her to learn from another caregiver on how to bathe my father and drive him to dialysis. We were counting on her to show up one Friday night to meet the other caregiver, learn from her, and be prepared to drive him to dialysis the next day. She never showed up on Friday or Saturday for the dialysis transport - and we initially didn't hear back from her at all despite me calling and texting her multiple times. I eventually messaged her translator who kindly helped me track her down just to get an answer out of her as to why she didn't show up. She said she changed her mind and did not want the job anymore. The fact she didn't let us know before, or even follow up after missing her commitments to check-in on us, was inconsiderate and frankly worrisome. I am flagging this as a safety concern as it can put elderly people in very problematic situations if she makes last minute cancels (without any warning) for critical appointments (i.e. like dialysis for my father) or for other critical care (i.e. feeding or medicine etc). She also still has a piece of our equipment (elderly lifting belt) that she has not returned. This would be 1 star rating, but to her credit, she did show up a couple of times, and when she did, she was very nice and professional. And as I said, her translator is excellent and very reliable. If you hire her, make sure she can commit to the schedule and is clear about cancellation policy + communication.
