For years I have assisted my grandmother (97) with bathing, daily hygiene, and toileting. She is quite stubborn when it comes to completing daily hygiene routines, saying maybe later or its too cold or fibbing and telling me she already showered. There is nothing wrong with that. She just doesn't want to lose her independence just as most elderly do not want to. Patience is key as well as gentle redirection to accomplish appropriate care. I love listening to stories of the past and holding conversations with those I care for. I can cook, clean, and provide transportation to appointments or events. I I am also med certified and am able to administer medications appropriately.
