I worked for SNCARC when I was going to school. Mostly, I provided respite care for the parents in their home. These were children with autism and Down syndrome. I also was a nanny for a family with a preschooler and twin infants. One of the twins was born with a some birth defects that necessitated a tracheotomy. These experiences were very different but awoke in me a determination to provide as normal a childhood experience as the child's needs allow.
