Christine was my wife’s caregiver from August, 2021 - November 2024. She had previously cared for an elderly couple for 13 years at Alisa’s Ranch, Solvang. Also, for a period of time she was a housekeeper for Olivia Newton John in Santa Ynez. I had taken care of my wife for approximately 2-1/2 years when Christine came to us via Care.com with no experience with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease, but as I indicated when I hired her, Alzheimer’s is a disease that causes a slow but continuous degradation of bodily functions. Christine turned out to be just exactly what my wife needed. Christine and my wife grew in their relationship. My wife needed assistance with every aspect of life. Christine got her out of bed, bathed her, dried and combed her hair, brushed her teeth, prepared meals, fed her, helped her walk, sat with her and kept her company, took her for drives to all the various communities from Santa Barbara to Cambria. They were non stop. This type of care continued even with the continued degradation of my wife’s condition. Walking transitioned to use of a wheelchair, sleeping transitioned from our bed to a hospital bed, lifting and transferring from bed to wheelchair was accomplished by use of body belts, positioning and strength. They became very affectionate with each other. She would attend all of her doctors appointments and participate in any of those discussions. She read and researched on her own how the disease progress through the various stages. She tended to my wife when she started having seizures, at times pulling up a chair along side my wife’s bed, caring for her, letting her know she was there. She initially started M - F 10 am to 8 pm but her value was realized and I ended up employing her 7 days a week, 10 am to 8 pm. I would also like to mention that my wife was on Hospice Care for nearly a year and in that time Christine developed a strong working relationship with their staff. Christine was my wife’s guardian angel. She kept my wife busy, always out and about and did not let her wither away. I highly recommend Christine. She is smart, honest, trustworthy, compassionate and extremely reliable. Lou S.
