I have worked with adults with disabilities for more than 10 years in employment. This has included personal care such as feeding (with a tube as well), changing, showering, as well as cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping and other tasks of daily living. I support the individual to participate in the ways that he/she is able to. I have worked with people with a variety of disabilities, intellectual and physical. I have also worked with 2 music therapists on clinicals for school, attending once a week to assist the M. T. or to lead music sessions. I frequently have brought my guitar or ukulele to work with me to lead sing-alongs with the residents where I worked. One school clinical was at a day program, working one-on-one with adults with profound disabilities and one clinical was working with a group of children with disabilities in school. I really enjoy learning more about what people are capable of and see that having expectations helps them to fulfill more of their potential.
