Confident, attentive, good communicator, good at time management, very observant, clean, reliable! My first experience as a care giver was taking care of my grandmother who had dementia and was a fall risk. She was home alone and needed someone around 24/7. We had great times together. My job was more manageable because I wasn't cooking for her. One thing I learnt about her is slower movement. It was difficult for me to adjust to her pace but I learned to be patient with her as I kept an eye on her to make sure she was safe. Secondly, I had to make sure she takes her pills on time as scheduled. I would make her bed, tuck her in at night, and made sure she took a shower which she didn't like at all. In the morning I would help her dress up, took her for a walk, make sure she ate and gave her all the companionship she needed. When she passed away, I decided to become a professional senior care giver. Went for training, applied for a job, started working. I love it.
