I worked full-time as an aide for middle aged twins who had Developmental Disabilities and Muscular Dystrophy. This position ended recently when the twins passed away within 2 months of each other. In my role as an aide, I assist with ADLs and with both a respiratory and exercise program, escorted them into the community and to medical appointments, gave medication cues, prepared meals and performed light housekeeping. I was also a companion for four years to a middle aged gentleman with an acquired brain injury. My last position caring for the twins was 35 miles from my home so I'm comfortable traveling in all weather conditions. My employers have commended me for my dependability, my commitment to those I care for, my ability to learn quickly, and, most importantly, for my compassion.
