I've worked with the developmentally disabled care field for nearly 10 years, first by attending camps as a care counsilor when I was in my teens, then professionally through the Association for Individual Development. I've worked as a day care room manager, working directly with those with severe and profound developmental disorder, providing both daily care and making curriculum to help develop simple life skills. Such as learning to cope with behavior disorders, teamwork skill development, working memory, organization, and problem solving at the 6th grade level. I've also worked with those of developmentally disabled individuals whom could be classified as having developmental capabilities aligned with that of a early teenager of typical development. I've worked with teens, young adults, adults and seniors with special needs. While I have worked individuals with autism, those instances were only supporting a direct care professional that was engaging in one on one care.
