Cheryl cared for our two children (ages 9 and 11, both with special needs) and was always kind, dependable, and respectful. She did a great job keeping the house clean when the kids were engaged in their own activities and was reliable in transporting them to the library and other outings. While Cheryl is very responsible, we found that planning structured activities for our children wasn’t her strong suit. Our kids thrive with planned engagement, and they sometimes struggled to connect with her approach. Additionally, while she was never rude, adapting to our gentle parenting discipline strategies was a challenge, which made it less of a fit for our family. This could be the boundary of special needs versus typical children. That said, we believe Cheryl would be a wonderful caregiver for families with children who are more independent and don’t require as much structured engagement. Her kindness and dependability are qualities that many families will appreciate.
